TALENTED NAVODAYA STUDENTS

Performance and acting is not laid down for everyone... Not in the Navodaya school. Besides singing and reciting, the children also perform as dancers and play music in the school fanfare!

Class 10 is the last class before heading to university or getting a job. So for their farewell the school prepared a goodbye spectacle.

Yes, our school has its own fanfare! For the annual parade they prepared some music pieces to play during a 3 hour walk!

When we arrived we saw this beautiful temple. Here the Guru (Hindu spiritual teacher) will lead the fest for the next 7 days. I also met this beautiful woman who was a spiritual leader of her people. She led all the women who were wearing pink!

The engagement of the students has no limits. After their classes around 16:30 the students of class 7 and 8 will head to the camps with one of the Sisters. In these camps the living conditions are heart breaking. The houses are made of tents, the children wake barefoot and hardly have any close on and everything is just unsanitary. The children get no chance to go school, so the students of Navodaya take note books and pencils to go spend some time with children. They teach them the alphabet and they learn how to count. We also went with them to help and teach the children. It’s sad because the sister told us they don’t stay here long. After a couple of months they will move again. So the chance that this will be the only education that they get is very big…

This makes me realize and appreciate even more how lucky I was that I went to school and got my education.
